Question 1

What is PrintCast?

Accepted Answer

PrintCast is two macOS apps that keep printers working. PrintCast Bridge shares the printers connected to your Mac with your iPhone and iPad over AirPrint, so your devices can print to printers that don't support AirPrint on their own. PrintCast Driver replaces vendor printer drivers that no longer work on current versions of macOS, so an aging printer keeps printing from your Mac. Both are a one-time purchase with a 7-day free trial.

Question 2

Which one do I need, Bridge or Driver?

Accepted Answer

If your printer already works on your Mac but your iPhone or iPad can't see it, you need Bridge. If your printer stopped printing from your Mac after a macOS update, you need Driver. Most people need only one, and the free trial lets you confirm the right one works before you buy.

Question 3

How does Bridge work?

Accepted Answer

Bridge finds the printers your Mac can already print to and advertises them on your local network as AirPrint printers, so your iPhone and iPad see them in the normal print dialog. Nothing about the printer changes; your Mac acts as the AirPrint bridge.

Question 4

How does Driver work?

Accepted Answer

When macOS removes the driver an older printer needs, Driver installs a replacement so the printer prints again from your Mac. It targets printers that speak standard page languages (PCL5 or PostScript). It brings back printing, not scanning or the manufacturer's utilities, and the free trial confirms your specific model.

Question 5

What are the system requirements?

Accepted Answer

Both apps require macOS 13.5 (Ventura) or later and are notarized by Apple. For Bridge, your iPhone or iPad needs to be on the same local network as your Mac. Driver works with the printer connected to your Mac by network or USB. PrintCast Driver runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Question 6

Does PrintCast collect any data?

Accepted Answer

Printing stays on your network: your print jobs never leave your Mac, and the apps need no account to print. Optional print diagnostics are off by default and can be turned on in Settings > Privacy. Licensing uses only your email address and license status.

Question 7

Bridge: my printer doesn't appear on my iPhone

Accepted Answer

Check that your Mac and iOS device are on the same network, that PrintCast is running with the printer enabled, and that Printer Sharing is on in System Settings > Sharing. If it still doesn't appear, make sure your firewall allows incoming connections.

Question 8

Driver: my printer isn't found, or won't print

Accepted Answer

Make sure the printer is on and reachable, then open PrintCast Driver and use "Scan again". If the printer still isn't listed, choose "Settings…" from the gear menu, then in "License", under "Printers", click "Add Printer by IP Address…" and enter its IP address or host name. On macOS 15 or later, also make sure PrintCastDriver is turned on in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. On a Mac updated from an earlier version of PrintCast Driver, a leftover DriverDaemon entry there or in Login Items can be ignored. Some older printers use a host-based language rather than PCL5 or PostScript; Driver can't drive those, which is why the free trial confirms your model before you pay. If it still won't install, contact us with your printer's make and model.

Question 9

Is there a subscription?

Accepted Answer

No. Both products are a one-time purchase with a 7-day free trial and no recurring fees. Bridge covers the printers on one Mac; Driver is licensed per printer.

Question 10

How many printers does a license cover?

Accepted Answer

Bridge covers every printer on one Mac. Driver is licensed per printer: one seat covers one printer, and you buy a seat for each printer you install. The Driver trial covers one printer.

Question 11

How do I get a receipt or update my billing details?

Accepted Answer

Need a receipt? Contact us and we'll send you one. To view or update the billing details for your purchase, enter your email on the license page and we'll email you a secure link that opens your billing details with Stripe, our payment provider.
